" Far away I fly... I cooperate, I help "

" Anyone in the world can go
succeeds
and the golden-winged bird from here
brings
a bag of gold will win
and my only daughter's hand!"
A traditional fairy tale becomes the occasion and the play becomes the vehicle to travel to the edge of the world and help the hero of the tale and his five friends to find the golden-winged bird and win the gifts promised by the king.
Parents and children participate in the dramatization of the story and join forces to complete this difficult mission. Theatrical play techniques, such as improvisation and cooperative games, help young and old to observe and experience the importance of cooperation and mutual help. Mrs. Zoi Valassi helped us to discover the traditional fairy tale "The 5 friends", on which the experiential activity has been based.
The event takes place on Saturday, 11/13/2010 at 11:00 at the theater of the Hellenic American Union (Massalias 22, Kolonaki, 2nd floor).

THE RATIONALE OF THE EXHIBITION
We usually say that "nature punishes". But nature has no emotions to anger and punish. What appears to us as punishment is the reaction caused by our actions, when they disturb the balance of its elements. Man's interventions, when they are directed by greed, gluttony and recklessness, are dangerous, whether it is the destruction of a forest or a thicket, or the contamination of the atmosphere, rivers and seas.
The myth of Erysichthon of Thessalon, preserved by the poet Callimachus, shows that the ancient ancestors realized that man must be careful and pious towards nature, because sooner or later he will suffer the consequences of his actions. Erysichthon was an advantaged, profane and irreverent man. One day he set out to cut down a sacred tree of Demeter. Despite the pleas and warnings of the nymph who inhabited it, he formed the tree. To punish him, Demeter sent him an insatiable hunger that was not satisfied by anything. He ate what he had and what he did not have, he spent all his wealth to buy all the goods of the earth and eat them. He sold his own daughter, the witch Mistra, to buy food. Finally he ate his own limbs and died, never having satisfied his hunger. The myth symbolizes gluttony, the thoughtless exploitation of natural resources, it symbolizes modern man who without measure consumes insatiably and above his physiological needs, depriving the future of children - whose forms his daughter takes - and of all her living nature and finally eats his own flesh and is driven to annihilation.
